2010 was the anniversary year of the Gütersloh-based Bertelsmann media group. As the agency responsible for organising and carrying out the group’s Management Meeting, Nordmann Event Consulting had to come up with a concept that would fit in with the year’s slogan ‘175 Years of Bertelsmann – A Story for the Future’.

The venue for the Bertelsmann Management Meeting 2010, which was attended by 650 top international managers, was the Tempodrom in Berlin. The participants heard contributions from keynote speakers such as Germany’s Finance Minister Dr Wolfgang Schäuble, Jean-Bernard Lévy, CEO Vivendi SA, and Jerome Glenn, scientist and founder of ‘The Millennium Project’.

Future technologies emphasise the clear direction of the company

The highlight of the Bertelsmann Management Meeting was a technology slot that impressively showcased the trends and technologies that will be relevant for the media world in the years ahead. Using mixed media components, N-EC transformed the stage into the user interface of a global media world. Films, pictures, texts, animations and interactive elements were melded into micro-events as part of a sophisticated and theatrical performance.

The presenter, Ilka Eßmüller, interacted live with these technologies of the future as the real and virtual worlds combined to produce an impressive and unique performance. On the occasion of Bertelsmann’s 175th anniversary, the message to the company’s top management was clear – the group is still very well equipped to play a significant role in shaping the future.
